Do you believe in magic? If you do, then I’m glad to hear it, and I suggest you read on just to satisfy your curiosity. If you don’t believe in magic, then you might want to read this. You see….we all have the power within us to create a wonderful life or an okay life or a miserable life. What I honestly admit is that I have not had the certainty and confidence that believing requires. I’ve been working on it, and am seeing the results. It’s definitely a journey, and it keeps getting better all the time.
I have read several books and articles, attended lectures, studied, watched and listened to hours of videos and audio on YouTube on the topic of believing is seeing in its various forms. I first was introduced to this idea of believing is seeing when in graduate school. As a kid, I heard the opposite, “Seeing is believing.”. I know that there is logic behind that, but I consider that an anemic belief.
My work as a counselor and life coach requires me to believe in the potential of each and every person that I see. I have to live in a world of possibilities, and work with and for my clients to inspire and help them create possibilities. I’d like to have my clients understand their life as a work of art that they can mold and shape and create a thing of beauty that they love. The process can require courage, patience and persistence, but these are no reasons or excuses to quit. I say just keep believing, keep moving and do your part.
I have to practice what I preach: It wouldn’t be honest otherwise. People eventually see through insincerity, and what good would that do. So, it may not be easy, but what I have found is that it’s always worth it. Yes, you have to put effort into it. Yes, you have to stop playing games. Yes, you have to take a good look in the mirror, and be the person that you know yourself to be. Yes, you have to love yourself. Yes, you have to be grateful, and that will come naturally as a result of the happiness and joy you will ultimately experience.
YES. YES. YES. So, choose your thoughts, words and actions carefully. Eventually, they become your reality. It’s good to know that you have that power, so use it wisely.
I offer this suggestion: Maintain a positive attitude, strive to be happy and confident and live with integrity. Figure out what you want, if you don’t already know and talk and think about it like it’s real. So believe, stay focused, keep yourselves in that positive state of mind. It becomes your reality. What’s the alternative, to live by default?
Here’s the challenge: Choose one area of your life where you’d like to make a change. Say what you want out loud. Say it every day. Believe it. Imagine it. Feel what it would be like to have it. Be a little crazy with it. Act like it’s real. Have fun with it. What do you have to lose?
Peace and love to you,
Coach and Counselor
