So, because it’s nearly year’s end, I thought it good to talk about something simple after this complicated year we put behind us. Most people like simple even when things are complicated. It is an art to make the complicated simple, and usually requires an alert and bright mind to do it well.
This blog has multiple purposes. As a life coach and counselor, one purpose is to give my reader useful information to improve their quality of life. Well, today a useful piece of information crossed my path. I was just surfing the web reviewing what artists we lost this year…Prince, Bowie, George Michael, and now Carrie Fisher. I don’t really know how I came across this article. But anyway, it’s a short video, and gives a great and simple piece of advice on how to get your day off on the right foot. Of course, you don’t want to put your feet on the floor before doing this.
Yes, I repeat it is simple. And I believe that it would work. As a person who works in the field of psychology, I believe in how our minds and bodies interact, and how we actually communicate to ourselves and others via our body language and posture. So, Amy Cuddy, a Harvard psychologist, suggests that before you get out of bed in the morning, you stretch. Not a little stretch, but THE BIGGEST, FATTEST STRETCH you can muster. A big, fat stretch simulates the posture of a confident person. So, like I said above, your body is communicating to your brain, “Hey, I’m confident!”. Right on! Simple. Easy. Effective. Try it. Try it a couple of times. Let me know how it works for you, and I’ll try it out too. Sounds like fun to me.
