90-Minute Sessions

Navigating family estrangement requires a lot of time for discussion, education and peeling back important insights that inform strategies and tools to move forward and mend. 90 minute sessions are available either in person or virtually from anywhere.

Topics for discussion during our time together:

  • What is your history of estrangement for your child and/or grandchildren?
  • History of your child’s development.
  • History of estrangement with your child or grandchild.
  • What steps have you taken in the past? What has worked? What hasn’t worked?
  • If there are sons and daughters-in law involved, what is their role in your experience?
  • Review any past amends letter and other communications
  • Common mistakes parents make when attempting to resolve estrangement
  • Review the history of mental or emotional issues that may have impacted the ongoing estrangement
  • Review the impact and importance of difference regarding gender issues upon the estrangement, including LGBTQ+, lifestyle and values

Outcomes we’ll pursue:

  • Initial meetings: This time will allow us to dive deeper, extract more information and have meaningful conversations to get started on the right path.
  • Developing concrete strategies: As we begin to identify and build strategies to navigate estrangement, a more extended session gives us the time to discuss, explore and establish a clear plan.
  • Infrequent sessions: When there is an extended period of time between sessions, a 90-minute block gives us time to make real progress, and keep you on track. With estrangement there is a lot to learn, and learning takes time. It also helps to stay motivated and hopeful.
