Set Up A Discovery Session.

If this is your first visit for Estrangement coaching, a discovery session is a perfect place to begin with a few questions. We’ll begin with a 45-minute initial session—available either in person or virtually from anywhere—to start creating a personalized plan for moving forward.

Topics for discussion during our time together:

  • What is your history of estrangement from your adult child and/or grandchild(ren)?
  • Why are you seeking help now?
  • What steps have you taken in the past? What has worked? What hasn’t worked?
  • What professional services have you used in the past — what has been helpful / what hasn’t been helpful?
  • If there are sons and daughters-in-laws involved, what is their role in your experience?
  • Review amends letter and other communications
  • Common mistakes parents make when attempting to resolve estrangement
  • Review the history of mental or emotional issues that impact the ongoing estrangement
  • Review the impact and importance of difference regarding gender issues upon the estrangement, including LGBTQ+, lifestyle and values.

Outcomes we’ll pursue:

  • Establish potential ways forward together, beginning with creating strategies focusing on one step at a time
  • Equip you with coping skills throughout to manage and soften the pain of family estrangement
  • Develop a toolkit to implement the strategies we identify in your day-to-day life
